1. Think About Weather Conditions: Always consider the type of weather that you live in. You want to choose outdoor furniture that is able to withstand the weather that you deal with most. For example, if you live in an area that is hot and dry, such as a desert, then you should consider outdoor furniture that is not made of wood. In hot and dry conditions, wood is much more likely to splinter and crack. Instead, you will want to consider a material that is resistant to this, such as aluminum.

This is why you should not only consider weather conditions, but also the amount of cleaning that the furniture requires. Wicker furniture can be more difficult to clean because you have to get in between the intertwining material, whereas aluminum furniture would only require surface cleaning every once in a while. Also, furniture with fabric material for cushioning can rip, which means you will have to replace it often. 
3. Think About Storage: Storing away outdoor furniture during the winter is a great way to prevent water damage during this wet season. Be sure that you only purchase enough furniture that you have room to store away in the house, basement, or outdoor storage bin. Considering furniture that is foldable is a great way to ensure that it is more easily able to fit into storage, or you can choose furniture that would work to be set up indoors during the winter. 
4. Think About Your Budget: The best time of year to shop for outdoor furniture is right before winter. People aren't typically looking for outdoor furniture during this type of year, so usually you can find some great sales, which is an excellent way to save money. However, if you want to purchase outdoor furniture right before summer because you currently don't have any, then think about choosing materials that are less expensive. Aluminum is one of the cheaper options over other materials such as steel.
